The summary of the Commission Decision of 5 August 2024 has been officially published. The proceedings regarded the possible violation of Article 34 of the DSA on behalf of TikTok, for failing to identify, analyze and assess systemic risk in the Union. In particular, the possible infringement of the DSA concerned the deployment of the ‘TikTok Lite Rewards programme’, which allowed users to collect points by viewing and liking content, following creators, recommending the app to friends, and using the app daily. On 22 July 2024, the main establishment of the provider of TikTok in the EU, TTTL, submitted two commitments to guarantee its compliance with the DSA. It undertook the commitment to withdraw the TikTok Lite Rewards programme and presented an anti-circumvention commitment. The Commission found these to be adequate and proportionate, thus terminating the proceedings against TikTok.
