EU and South Korea conclude negotiations for adoption of landmark Digital Trade Agreement

The agreement aims to establish high-standard digital trade rules that foster consumer trust, provide legal certainty for businesses, and support trusted data flows while removing unjustified barriers to digital trade. Key provisions include cross-border data flows, privacy protection, electronic contracts, and open government data.

Both parties will now follow their respective procedures to work towards the formal signature and conclusion of the agreement. On the EU side, this will include legal scrubbing and translations into all EU languages, before the proposal can be sent to the Council and European Parliament.
