Apple has taken action against the Commission’s decision to impose a fine for its allegedly abusive App Store rules affecting music streaming providers, as published in the Official Journal
On May 16, 2024, Apple and Apple Distribution International filed an action against the European Commission (Case T-260/24), seeking to annul the Commission’s decision (C(2024) 1307 final) from March 4, 2024, regarding Apple’s App Store practices in music streaming. The Commission had fined Apple over €1.8 billion for abusing its dominant market position by restricting app developers from informing iOS users about alternative, cheaper music subscription services outside the App Store, which violates EU antitrust rules.
