Commission notifies Temu of several breaches of EU consumer law
The Consumer Protection Cooperation (CPC) Network of national consumer authorities and the European Commission have informed the online marketplace Temu of a number of its practices that violate EU consumer law. These practices include the award of fake discounts, the use of false claims about limited supplies or purchase deadlines, forcing consumers to play a ‘spin the fortune wheel’ game to access the platform, using missing and misleading information about consumers’ rights, providing fake reviews, and hiding contact details. Temu has also been requested to inform consumers clearly about whether the product seller is a trader or not and to ensure the accuracy of environmental claims.
