EU Proposes Historic Digital Trade Agreement with Singapore

The European Commission set out its first-ever Digital Trade Agreement (DTA) with Singapore, which seeks to transform global trade through electronic and telecommunication technology. The landmark deal aims to simplify administrative procedures, bring legal certainty, and enhance consumer protection by safeguarding information rights. Singapore, as a leading digital hub of the Indo-Pacific, adds to the EU’s ambition to set global standards for digital trade. This DTA, after earlier agreements in 2011 and 2019, strengthens the EU’s commitment to a values-driven digital agenda in international trade.

For more information on the agreement, see the official press release.
